Your new home has an existing security system
Many times after you close on a home, you’ll see that the old owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the devices function well, are placed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer suggestions on upgrades. It's a fast appointment, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The old homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up cost to make your life easier. If the owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, turning over the security contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your home security components with you
You might need to bring along your old Vivint system with you to your new house when you move. Luckily, it's pretty easy to do, as modern smart devices are plug and play. You can take down each alarm or camera yourself or use a professional installer to take down everything. Then an expert will set up the same devices -- and any new things you need -- in your new place. And your home security contract will stay the same.
